Carmen Garber, AMFT

Life can sometimes be unsettling and overwhelming; we may need extra support, a different perspective, or a trusted companion on the journey. As a therapist, I consider it an honor to walk alongside individuals and families in their pursuit of emotional and relational health. I am committed to providing therapy in a context of safety and trust, as well as professional excellence.

My Approach

My approach is strengths-based and person-centered, utilizing therapy methodologies such as solution-focused, contextual, cognitive-behavioral, experiential, and play therapy techniques. I enjoy working with a variety of clients: children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families.

My Background and Specializations

As both an adoptee and a former foster parent, I bring a unique lived experience to my knowledge of attachment, trauma, and interpersonal relationships. My professional background includes experience as a teacher in various capacities.

I earned a MAMFT from Kairos University and I currently have my associate license. I hold specialized certifications in Gottman Level 1, Prepare and Enrich, as well as the Myers Briggs Inventory. I have completed intensive, specialized trainings in Filial Play Therapy and Theraplay, and I am working on accruing hours towards becoming a registered play therapist.

In my free time I enjoy reading, hiking, knitting, and spending time with my husband and three children.
